C/O Troy Doetch

Slackjaw readers and patrons of comedy, my name is Adam Dietz and I am the editor of Slackjaw’s monthly newsletter, Yapjaw. Each month, I will showcase the best and brightest humor on Slackjaw in addition to some other cool stuff from equally cool spots.

As a March 21 birthday, I used to take a lot (too much) pride in my birthday also being the first day of spring. In the midwest, the first day of spring is sort of a stealth great day. It doesn’t get the press of a Christmas or 4th of July, but it was my experience that the day that marked the end of winter and the start of spring always had everyone pretty jazzed. Sadly, because of the rotation of the earth, the spring equinox has not occurred on March 21 since 2007. Somewhat inexplicably, it took me until about 2016 to notice that my birthday was no longer the official start of spring. I even wasn’t aware that the date changing was a possibility, if I’m being entirely honest. This year, the first day of spring is March 19, so by the time my birthday rolls around two days later, spring season will be old news. In fact, March 21 will not represent the first day of spring again until 2101. By that time, you’ll all be reading Yapjaw on the moon.

On this week’s edition of Yapjaw, we’re talking Panda Express, Ray Romano, and dietary restrictions. Want the goods? Keep reading!

Editor’s Note:

I’ll just use this space to briefly plug my podcast on the television show Home Improvement. We started it in 2016 and are still recording every now and then. It’s called Home Impodcast and if you like this newsletter or any writing I have ever done then you might get a kick out of it. You also might absolutely hate it!
