Move over Crate Challenge, there’s a new viral sensation taking TikTok by storm. Pioneered by user “ModernRomeo,” the hottest trend on TikTok must be seen to be believed! In the three minute video, posted in July of 2021, ModernRomeo, real name Marcus McLintock, sat down with his father, Bernard, and the two got real for the first time in a long time. Garnering 5,000,000 views in just under a week, this heartfelt upload has prompted a new movement racing its way through the TikTok community at hyperspeed. TikTok’s newest and hottest trend: forgiving your father.
In the deeply authentic vid, McLintock confronts his father about some of the issues they’ve had over the years. Topics discussed include Bernard’s lack of interest in his son’s life and his constant infidelity. As Marcus outlines his feelings toward his father, tears well up in Bernard’s eyes. The video ends with Bernard promising young Marcus that he’ll do better as Seal’s “Kiss From A Rose” plays and the two dab each other up. They say cheaters never prosper, but in the case of adulterer Bernard and his son, Marcus, the duo appear to both be living their best lives. To date, the video has 120,000 comments and a slew of killer imitations.
